Swissport appoints new General Manager Cargo for Australia & New Zealand

Swissport International has appointed Joel Greig as the new General Manager Cargo for Australia and New Zealand. In this role, Joel will drive the growth strategy in the region, and enhance operational efficiency and service excellence.

Joel Greig has a track record of more than 20 years' experience in the aviation industry, including several roles as Executive Manager. Most recently, he served as Head of Freight for Qantas in Australia. Joel's expertise includes cargo handling, operational transformations, and innovative logistics solutions, and will be crucial in growing Swissport’s cargo footprint in the region.

"We are pleased to welcome Joel to our team," says Brad Moore, CEO of Swissport in the Asia Pacific region. "His extensive industry knowledge and experience will be vital as we continue to expand our cargo operations in Australia and New Zealand, opening new air cargo centers and grow our customer base."

Swissport, the global expert in cargo operations and a key partner in the largest cargo operations across the global logistics chain, is on a growth trajectory, continually enhancing its services across the Asia Pacific region. At the end of 2023, Swissport expanded its air cargo handling operations to Australia, and invested significantly in infrastructure and technology at its Sydney facility. Additionally, a new air cargo centre including temperature-controlled areas, is set to become fully operational in Melbourne soon.

Swissport’s global network includes 115 air cargo centers, equipped with digital tools and modern equipment such as gate and slot management systems and self-service cargo kiosks. These advancements enable Swissport to continuously enhance operational efficiency and add value for customers. With advanced pharmaceutical handling capabilities and a recent expansion into freight forwarder handling, Swissport's comprehensive air cargo services cater to the entire logistics community.

In Australia and New Zealand, Swissport provides airport ground services to 36 domestic and international airlines at 23 airports, serving 1.5 million passengers in 2023. The company employs more than 4,000 aviation professionals across all business lines in Australia and New Zealand.
